Japan: The Powerhouse Market
According to estimates from Appmagic, Japan stands out as the leading market for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, representing 43% of the game's total earnings despite constituting only 9% of total downloads. This translates to an unbelievable $172 million generated from this single market. The Japanese audience’s enthusiasm for Pokémon games is no secret, and this latest success story adds yet another chapter to the franchise's long-standing dominance in the gaming industry.
Notably, the share of player spending in the country has increased by 1% since Pocket achieved its first $100 million in a mere 17 days. While the United States' share of spending has decreased by 2% during this period, it remains a significant contributor, holding second place with 26% of the total expenditure, amounting to $104 million. This impressive statistic reinforces the game's global appeal, making the United States the only other country to reach a nine-figure contribution to the franchise's success.
