About
Hello everyone and welcome to my website! I go by SaberWolf94 on the net and this website is an extension of my YouTube channel. That is to say it's a site that's all about my favourite card games. I became a fan and a follower of the Pokemon universe as soon as it hit the scene in my home country Cyprus but the lack of availability and stores that even carried pokemon cards made it so I didn't get into the pokemon tcg immidiately. However, as soon as Yugioh hit the scene in the same way it was impossible to avoid the card game this time as that was what Yugioh was all about.
I had been completely into Yugioh since then but along the way I finally got into the pokemon tcg too in 2008 thanks to my friend and with a stroke of randomness even got into Duel Masters with my brother. Pokemon and Yugioh were big fads during the early 2000s and most of the male kids got into them. However, the majority quickly left the franchises and only the genuine fans remained. People like me which were the minority. Getting made fun of by other students and even looked down upon by my parents and other family I can only think I held on to my interests because they were really that awesome for me. I loved Pokemon and Yugioh enough to dismiss everyone's negative opinion.
YouTube is no doubt the biggest video site today but back in its young days it was almost like a secret site that enabled people like me to see exclusive pokemon gameplay videos that we had no other way to experience. I'm talking about watching videos of people battling and catching Deoxys in Emerald through Mystery Gift Events or watching rom hack videos and seeing things like Mewthree.
I made my own channel but didn't really do much with it. I posted pokemon videos and wi-fi battles from the Black & White era but I didn't look at YouTube as a job or made any money. In August 2017 though that changed and I decided my channel would be fully dedicated on the pokemon tcg. You may wonder "what about yugioh?" Well, the truth is that during the Arc-V era yugioh drastically changed. The era still had some cool cards and good mechanics but the bad REALLY outweighted the good. I was still into the game but only got more and more frustrated it with it until I finally let it go in 2017 around when Raging Tempest was the newest set. I got similar feelings about the pokemon tcg now but let's just say I'm still hanging on but barely.
In late 2022 One Piece finally got its own card game as well and the rule foundations would be closley based on the Duel Masters tcg. Knowing that and also being a huge fan of One Piece since I was 12, I just had to pitch in.
That brings us to why this website exists today. While making videos on my channel, I had so many different ideas and written all types of scripts and essays for both Pokemon and Yugioh. In fact, being so inspired by Jason Klaczynski's articles on the old pokemon tcg sets I was inspired to do that for Yugioh on a much grander scale. That is to say I wrote an entire book about it. The Original Yugioh Era. I also wanted a hub where all of the lovely old pokemon cards from Gen 1-Gen 4 would be easily viewable and everyone could learn about them and admire them. Hopefully to the point that more people take an interest in older pokemon tcg formats.
Thus, this website was born. Making a website today is much easier than how it would have been 10 or 15 years ago but I still had a lot to learn and work on to make this site a real tcg dream destination. A place with a lot of comphresensive written works about old pokemon decks, the history of the different cards pokemon got and so much more. I hope the site is of use to you in some kind of way and you discover new tcg knowledge and ideas for Pokemon, Yugioh or One Piece!
