LEGO Launches Pokémon TCG Building Challenge Best Design Can Become An Official Set

Introduction to the Exciting Collaboration
In an exciting collaboration between LEGO and Pokémon, fans now have the opportunity to turn their brick-building skills into an official product. LEGO Ideas has unveiled the "Pokémon Trading Card Game Challenge: Build Your Card!" inviting creators worldwide to design a full-art Pokémon TCG card using LEGO pieces. The winner will receive 1% of the total net sales of the product and the build will be transformed into a real LEGO set.
Details of the Challenge
The challenge, announced today, taps into the popularity of both the LEGO Ideas platform—where fan submissions can become official products—and the iconic Pokémon Trading Card Game, known for its vibrant artwork and collectible appeal. Participants must craft an original "full art" Pokémon card display, capturing the style and layout of a TCG card with a creative LEGO twist. Recreations of existing cards are not allowed; submissions must be entirely new designs. LEGO emphasizes that entries should evoke the detailed artwork and collectible feel of Pokémon TCG cards while showcasing innovative brick techniques.
Key rules include:
Builds must use between 400 and 2,500 LEGO pieces.
No minifigures are permitted.
The design must feature only one Pokémon from a pre-approved list of Pokémon (details on the link below).
The build must represent a full-art card, with the Pokémon's face clearly visible in the upper half.
Specific dimensions for the card frame are provided: approximately H: 30cm (12 inches / 37 studs) and W: 21.5cm (8.5 inches / 26 studs).
How to Participate
Submissions are open now via the official LEGO Ideas challenge page. The deadline is May 6, 2026, at 6:00 AM EST. After the submission period, a LEGO review board will select finalists, followed by a fan voting phase from May 28 to June 11, 2026, where LEGO Ideas members can choose their favorites. This marks another milestone in the growing LEGO-Pokémon partnership, which has already seen physical sets released earlier in 2026.
