Honeycomb Scizor (2009)
Running a serious deck in DP without utilizing any poke-powers would normally be a recipe for disaster. Nevermind Claydol, even decks that wouldn't run that (usually SP) would always have at least 1 Uxie in their deck. Even so, to get the most out of Stormfront Scizor this is the price we have to pay. Don't have any pokemon with poke-powers in play. By meeting this condition, Scizor can hit for 70 for 2 with Pound Down, a very solid amount that can ensure a 2 hit KO on most pokemon in the era. That's not all there is to like about this Scizor though, and that's why I decided to take the no poke-powers gamble and build a deck around it.
Notes and strategy: Seeing as we can't run any pokemon with poke-powers, we must run a lot of supporter cards to accomplish some level of consistency. This isn't a perfect solution (if it was then Claydol and Uxie wouldn't be a big deal) as you'll still commonly find yourself with awkward hands with multiple supporters or other cards you'd rather not be carrying at those moments. It is still necessary though as your means to keep getting cards, hopefully every turn if possible. A blend of more trainer cards with supporter cards would make the deck flow a lot better but you run into other problems if you do that. Trainer cards will interfere with our Spiritomb line here; our hopeful opener that will slow the game down and give Scizor some time to set up and gather some energies on the field. It's also a great method to evolve into our multiple stage 1 pokemon instead of just drawing cards with supporters and passing. The dilemma with Spiritomb in the era is that if you're not running a fast deck or SP deck that won't use it and your opponent runs their own Spiritombs, you'll be at a disadvantage either way with trainer lock so you might as well embrace it yourself in rogue decks like this. At least you know you won't have to suffer against trainer lock if you're thin on trainers regardless. That's why I believe while you can't accomplish perfect consistency with this specific list, it is still the best way to run Stormfront Scizor. That is to say, run it through Spiritomb.
The only trainers here are the Switch for some "you never know" situations and 2 Luxury Balls. Since our main worry is to get somewhat of a set up and start attacking with Scizor soon the second Luxury Ball helps us see the card more often. You have plenty of discard outlets or ways to put it back in the deck so I think it's worth risking it. If you disagree you can always run Quick Ball, Dusk Ball or something else.
Now it's time to touch on Scizor's other merits. It's a great pokemon stat wise as a stage 1 with 100 HP but Honeycomb Defender can turn it into a true tank pokemon. With 6 or more damage counters on this body will start blocking 40 damage from future attacks. This body allows you to go in 2 different directions. You can Arceus Cherrim or Shaymin Lv. X to help you tank even more making it hard for your opponent to KO Scizor in one or two attacks. Rising Rivals Nidoqueen may also be a partner to think about but all these options besides Cherrim will make your deck a lot more inconsistent so I'm not that fond of them. The other direction is to favour Stormfront Cherrim to boost your attacks instead and take advantage of Accelerate. By knocking out a pokemon with this attack, Scizor will become fully invincible during your opponent's turn which is the ultimate protection compared to just blocking some damage. With Cherrim boosting your attacks, it makes it much easier to hit something hard with Pound Down and then finish them off with Accelerate next turn to become fully immune to damage. Naturally Luxray GL Lv. X, Warp Point and other methods can play around this effect but if your opponent can't it's going to be a huge advantage for you. That's why a think a 2-2, 3-1 or even all 4 of Stormfront Cherrim is the best way to go about using this Scizor. Stormfront Cherrim can also function as a better additional attacker compared to Arceus Cherrim albeit still a desperate one.
In conclusion, this is another rogue deck that isn't perfect and it's very linear and predictible but can prove deadly if your opponent takes it lightly. Hope you enjoyed reading about it and good luck if you try to use it!
