Dragon Shield Mattes: Superior Sleeves and the Most Durable on the Market

Introduction to Dragon Shield Matte Sleeves

When it comes to protecting your valuable trading cards, the right sleeves can make all the difference. The Dragon Shield Matte Sleeves are widely recognized as a top choice among players. These sleeves stand out due to their impressive thickness, measuring 120 microns, making them the thickest sleeves on the market. This exceptional quality translates to outstanding protection for your cards, ensuring they remain in pristine condition even after multiple shuffles and games. They are also possibly the most stylish deck protectors in the market. Aside from all the multiple colors they come in, each color is represented by a dragon artwork with its own name and short backstory. Featured on the small boxes the sleeves are in, the little boxes can also serve as a small means of card storage.

The Benefits of Thick Sleeves

Players often find that thicker sleeves offer better protection against wear and tear and also last much longer. If you're a frequent tournament player or just play a lot of games in general, Dragon Shield Mattes are a great choice for sleeves that are known to last. For Yugioh and any other card game that usually has 40 card decks instead of 50 or 60 it's even better, as you get that extra protection and your deck doesn't become too thick anyway.

Textured Finish for Superior Shuffle Feel

In addition to their thickness, the matte card sleeves boast a textured finish that enhances the shuffle experience. The ‘roughed’ matte back provides a smooth shuffle feel, enabling players to mix their cards effortlessly. Compared to classic textures, which can sometimes feel sticky or rough, the matte sleeves' design optimizes card movement without compromising grip. Although these sleeves may feel slippery when new, they gradually settle into a comfortable grip as they age. This unique characteristic has made the matte texture a preferred choice among many players, further solidifying the Dragon Shield's reputation.

The Downsides

The added protection from thicker sleeves is nice but it also has its drawbacks. Card games that require bigger sized decks such as Pokemon and to a lesser degree One Piece will be really huge once sleeved up with Dragon Shield Mattes. I don't even want to imagine the mega thickness of a double sleeved card deck with Dragon Shield Mattes. I do not double sleeve but I know that double sleeving is possible with Dragon Shield Mattes even if it can be tricky sometimes. If you don't have very big hands or if just dealing with mega huge decks is annoying for you then I cannot reccomend Dragon Shield Mattes. At its maximum, I can only tolerate a One Piece deck with Dragon Shield Mattes at 50 cards but no way a pokemon deck with 60. This thickness can also be a nuisance for storage handling; meaning you'll be able to fit fewer cards in deck boxes, tins etc. if they're sleeved in Dragon Sheild Mattes. Depending on the space your binder albums can handle you will run into problems in this category as well. Dragon Shield Mattes are also taller in height than most other sleeves leaving some extra space on top. This can be annoying as well depending on who you ask as that space can get dust particles and other dirt stuck there more easily if you don't double sleeve. Just by being taller adds to their big sized nature when combined with their thickness you just get some really big sleeves overall.

Conclusion

Choosing the right card sleeves is crucial for any trading card enthusiast, and Dragon Shield Matte Sleeves offer superior quality and performance compared to nearly all other deck protectors. Their 120-micron thickness does come with issues as I noted, but it also ensures that your cards are well-protected, while the textured matte back enhances your shuffle experience. As players continue to share their positive experiences, it's clear that these sleeves have become a favorite in the gaming community. For those seeking superior quality sleeves in terms of durability, shuffle handling and don't care about their extra thickness then Dragon Shield Matte Sleeves are undoubtedly the way to go.
