Creatures Raising Prices in Japanese Pokemon Booster Packs

1/30/2026

Introduction to Price Increases

Recently, Creatures has made an announcement that will impact the Pokémon TCG in Japan. Starting from May 2026, the MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) of Japanese booster packs will increase from 180 yen to 200 yen. This adjustment reflects a 10% rise, approximately translating to an additional $0.13 per pack.

History of Pricing Adjustments

This isn't the first time Creatures has revised the pricing strategy of booster packs. The last increase occurred in October 2022, coinciding with the launch of the Scarlet & Violet series when packs grew from 165 yen to 180 yen. Similar to the current situation, that adjustment was around 10%. During that period, various Pokémon TCG products experienced price hikes, not solely limited to booster packs. Such comprehensive changes suggest that price adjustments often consider broader production costs rather than isolated factors.

In connection with the booster packs, it is expected that the price for 30-pack booster boxes will also see an increase. The cost will rise from 5,400 yen to 6,000 yen, which equates to about $4 more per box.
