Cards Of The Week #25

10/13/2026

Benn. Beckman (OP17-027)

I was a bit disappointed when I realized I couldn't put this card in other green decks besides Shanks but maybe they made the right choice to give him this condition. Beckman here is very powerful after all.

Even in the worst case scenario where you have nothing to rest, or the rest effect wouldn't make a difference you still draw a card on summon and have rush character with an excellent 9000 power for 7 cost. When the rest effect will matter (which will usually be the case) your range has no limit, which is really quite strong. Even the strongest blockers will be countered by this dude. So, he really has to get a very high rating and that's all there is to it.

Inazuma (EB01-022)

I don't think it would be a stretch to deem this as a forgotten card but there's a good reason am afraid. It's too hard to make the most out of. Now I think many of you thought I was going to see it's too weak and bring statements along the lines of power creep but that wouldn't be completely true.

Sure, Linlin and other cards can let you draw 2 cards with much more ease and also have other stuff going for them. But what sets this card apart is that you could potentially reap this effect more than once, and when that happens it is going to be quite powerful. This is me thinking far ahead as realistically, this card was originally meant to pair up with the Ivankov leader that's not in the format right now. Inazuma's boss.

But imagine a game board where you have amazing control, won't be in danger of getting killed by your opponent with your low hand size and will be able to draw 2 cards at the end of your every turn. You can't tell me that doesn't sound somewhat appealing. Regardless, I can't rate it highly just on imaginery potential. The reality is, it is a difficult card to use compared to other cards that will give you great draw with ease because of the condition.
