Cards Of The Week #22
Cavendish (OP10-045)
What makes Cavendish so good is that the longer it takes for your opponent to get rid of him the more value you're going to accumulate turn after turn. Drawing 2 and discarding 1 every time you attack means you grab 1 card every turn, but means faster digging into your deck and also a discard outlet to combo with other cards and effects.
Attacking him at 6000 or 7000 can suck pretty bad as they can easily protect him and then recover the card they lost back with a new draw. At 6000 attack power he's in the range where he can pressure your opponent's leader and requires higher attack tier characters to efficiently kill him.
Even so, there are a few downsides. If your opponent removes him before you score at least 1 attack then you didn't get any value out of him compared to other cards that would let you draw on summon. Dressrosa decks commonly have ways to get him to attack as as soon as you play him but that won't always work out. When you do start attacking, you will have to attack at least 2-3 times before losing him in order for him to reap you as much or more value than the new blue Linlin for example.
Besides these few minor problems, he is a very good card, especially if your opponent can't get rid of him in time.

Uta (OP13-023)
This girl is a very underrated card but at the same time; there is a lot of competition with green cards of the mid-range cost so it isn't a coincidence many people don't run her. All you get with her is 2 DON!! back after you play her which is a nice effect in any situation. When combined with additional copies of her or other similar cards you can essentially get some additional summons down when you weren't supposed to.
If she gets killed by a KO you can summon a character with a cost of 5 or less from your hand rested. No group theme or color limitations either. What is annoying is that the card you play has to come down rested, meaning you couldn't get a mid-range blocker down and make use of them at the same time.
The effect is still good enough that will usually dissuade your opponent from attacking her but she won't provide much more afterwards besides her standard 5000 power. I don't know, maybe I'm being too generous with my rating but I do believe there's not that much wrong with her.
