Cards Of The Week #20

9/5/2026

Charlotte Linlin (OP17-049)

The first blue Linlin from out latest set basically outclasses nearly every other blue card that draws cards on a similar cost. Her only drawback is the choice is in your opponent's hands. Of course, if they choose to forsake you from draw they have to discard 2 cards from their hand themselves. The real problem comes when your opponent only has 1 or 0 cards in their hand. Zero may be a bit too rare but only keeping 1 card in hand is not so uncommon.

When that happens to be the situation, your opponent may likely choose to lose their last card instead of letting you grab 2. Another potential negative situation for you is when you have more than enough cards in your hand and aren't necessarily looking for more. You'd rather your opponent loses options instead. In those situations, your opponent will likely allow you to draw cards as it wouldn't make that much difference. Unless you're drawing cards with + counters in hand, having dozens of stuck cards won't help you since you couldn't possibly summon all of them anyway. A common scenario against Xebec.

Besides this effect and her great stats she can also turn a stuck card into a +1000 counter but only once per turn. Overall, she's an excellent blue card that can be used in most blue decks; she is not theme specific, which is also why she's so good.

Jack (OP08-084)

Unless I'm mistaken (although I don't think I am) this Jack is the first character that buffed his own cost over 10. From a booster set anyway. Maybe he's even one of the first cards that self-buffed costs in the first place.... Either way, it was around that period where the black color also started focusing on cost increasing for your own characters rather than just decreasing costs on your opponent.

The idea is to combo with other black cards and by having bigger costs period means you can evade many effects that would otherwise affect you. His only real effect though is to rest in order to draw and discard 1 card, and then KO an opponent's 3 cost character or less. He won't get you too far in the meta today with only that.

You will only get this effect free once, when you play him down. If you would use it turn after turn it means he's not attacking which is a pretty big waste of that 8000 attack power. To get a better KO range, as usual, you will have to use other cards together with him. It's not that encouraging when Gloriosa can bottom deck a cost 5 or less without any hassle.

He's not a completely worthless card, but his age from OP08 is showing no doubt.
